We
lost the final of the Lawson Cup on sunday to Ballynanty Rovers.
In a great game of football we were unlucky to lose after we got
back on level terms twice in the game. We fell behind in the first
half and Pa Moloney equalised but shortly after this we conceded
again and that was the score at half time. We conceded again shortly
after half time from a set piece to go 3-1 down. We kept plugging
away and were awarded a penalty when Pa Moloney was fouled in the
box and Ian Bennis converted the penalty. Philip Purcell then scored
a cracker from the edge of the box to make it 3-3. In the final
minutes of the game Balla were reduced to 10 men. So on to extra
time and Balla got the winner from a set piece we piled on the pressure
for the remainder of the game but were unable to break down the
balla defence for a 4th time.
